KB5095027

Microsoft has released cumulative update KB5095027 (build 26300.8687) for Windows 11 version 25H2 for insiders on the Experimental channel. The Experimental channel includes the latest preview builds of Windows 11 with new features. Builds may have low stability and some issues, but they are intended for users who want to try out new operating system features.

Known issues in previous builds fixed in this update:

To install the update, go to Settings > Windows Update and click Check for updates. A computer restart is required to complete the installation. You can also download update KB5095027 and install it manually.

How the new features work:

Unified update mechanism in Windows Update: A unified installation orchestrator has been introduced that synchronizes driver, .NET framework, and firmware packages with the monthly cumulative update. The logic eliminates multiple reboot sessions by merging waiting phases into a single component stack servicing cycle, requiring only one system restart per month to finalize all changes.

Opening a folder in a new tab with the middle mouse button in File Explorer: The input event handler now intercepts wheel-click emulation in the address bar and on the home page. This function initiates the creation of a new Explorer view instance using a tab-based multitasking mechanism identical to web browsers, unifying navigation without invoking the context menu.

Improved Narrator announcements in File Explorer: The UI Automation provider for the conflict resolution dialog during move or copy operations has been modified. Text announcement patterns are enriched with contextual data about checkbox states and target paths, allowing Narrator to accurately verbalize the nature of the conflict and the available resolution options.

File Explorer response to increased text scale: The shell view layout methods have been refactored to correctly apply the DPI offset parameter set via WinRT. When a non-standard font scaling percentage is applied, the updated mechanism prevents glyph clipping and ensures that input fields and labels remain readable without overflowing their container boundaries.

App search has become more tolerant of errors: The indexing and search algorithm now includes a fuzzy matching module based on the Damerau-Levenshtein distance. The system analyzes the input string for transpositions, missing, or extra characters and performs fuzzy normalization of the query against the executable file name, returning a relevant token even with a partial match.

Improved ranking of settings search results: The semantic analysis mechanism has been modified to prioritize Settings page content. Query weighting coefficients have been retuned to boost exact matches with category headers and toggle names in the search results, pushing less relevant deep-level links further down the list.

Improved taskbar loading reliability: The Explorer initialization process responsible for populating the notification area (system tray) has been optimized. A thread race condition occurring during the registration of icon COM objects, which could cause UI elements to hang at shell startup, has been eliminated by introducing additional message loop readiness checks.

Updated parental control information presentation during Windows setup: The OOBE process payload at the account setup stage has been altered. The feature injects a modified XAML container into the installation sequence, which visualizes the available family protection tools map more clearly, allowing the administrator to make a decision about enabling restrictions before logging into the session.

The emoji panel now uses GIPHY: Following the deprecation of Tenor support, the service provider for GIF animation insertion via the input interface has been switched to the GIPHY API endpoint. Upon invocation with Win + period, the panel host asynchronously fetches and renders trending content, allowing the user to drag animations directly into the active application's input field.

Remote recovery management plug-in: A new configuration provider has been added to WinRE, extending mobile device management capabilities. The module allows MDM servers, via the OMA-DM client, to remotely initiate recovery scenarios, modify boot loader environment variables, and manage the recovery partition state without requiring physical access to the machine.

Fixes for known issues: Fixed an error where tooltips would incorrectly overlay the Start menu icon when the Taskbar was in an alternative position, and visual artifacts in small icon mode have been corrected. Resolved the cursor movement vector inversion issue on secondary monitors in portrait orientation caused by a coordinate transformation matrix error.

Other fixes: Audio loss after installing the latest builds has been eliminated by patching the audio subsystem driver. The stability of the "Installed apps" section in Settings has been improved. Hangs when working with Search and Notepad have been fixed. The Create Task window in Task Manager now correctly inherits the color scheme when dark mode is activated, utilizing the current theme broker.
