Microsoft has released cumulative update KB5124114 (Build 26340.9482) for Windows 11, version 26H2 for Insiders in the Experimental channel. Update KB5124114 includes Memory Integrity on compatible computers, speeds up search in File Explorer, changes the frame color during screen capture, and fixes crashes with the mouse cursor, wallpaper, and brightness that appeared in recent builds. The changes are being rolled out to Insiders gradually, so they will not appear for everyone at the same time.
- Security. Memory Integrity protection (HVCI) is automatically rolling out to more compatible devices: Windows can enable it when installing updates on supported computers to improve protection and prepare the system for other security mechanisms. The choice made by the user or administrator is preserved.
- Context menu. When opening the menu for the first time, a tip may appear explaining that its composition can be customized. The context menu customization item itself can now be disabled in its new settings. Several minor issues in the Send to item have been fixed.
- File Explorer search. Search from the This PC section has been switched to the indexing service: it has become noticeably faster and works the same way as search on the File Explorer Home page.
- Taskbar. Fixed scaling of the Input Method Editor (IME) icon when small taskbar icons are enabled.
- Screen capture. The frame outlining the recorded area has become red instead of yellow, making active screen capture more noticeable.
- Settings. The design of the Settings > System > Storage > Temporary files page has been slightly reworked. Fixed a bug in recent builds that caused custom mouse cursor appearance settings not to apply. Fixed a bug in recent builds that caused the selected desktop wallpaper to reset after a reboot.
- Brightness. Fixed the cause of screen brightness issues in recent builds, including the case where its settings became inactive.
Installation via Windows Update: go to Settings > Windows Update and click Check for updates. A computer restart will be required to complete the installation.
