Microsoft has released cumulative update KB5124058 (Build 26340.9354) for Windows 11 version 26H2, intended for insiders on the Experimental channel. This build brings a number of significant improvements, including reading of mathematical formulas by Narrator, separate magnification for each monitor in Magnifier, redesigned sound settings, and a device information card on the main Settings page. Changes are being rolled out to insiders gradually, so some features may not appear for everyone at the same time.

• Continue from phone. When you continue on your computer a page opened on your phone, and the browser from the phone is not on the PC, the resume card offers two options: open the page in the default browser or install the browser from which the page came. Previously, it was impossible to continue working without installing the application.
• Settings: main page. The device information card now appears in other countries as well. It is available to insiders signed in with a Microsoft account and shows the main characteristics of the computer and how it is used. From the card you can immediately go to "Settings > System > About". Previously, the card was shown only to insiders in the USA, as well as on managed computers with a Microsoft Entra ID account.
• Settings: privacy and security. The "Privacy and security" page has been redesigned: permissions for camera, microphone, and location are grouped, and information about their usage has been pulled from nested pages onto the page itself — no need to search through sections anymore.
• Family safety. Messages stating that an application is blocked by parental controls due to age restrictions have been worded more clearly.
• Taskbar and notification area. The rollout of improved preview animations on the taskbar has been resumed — transitions between groups of applications have become smoother. Fixed an issue where the preview window of an application on the taskbar could incorrectly respond to switching between dark and light themes.
• File Explorer. On the search results page, key file information — name, location, and date — is displayed in a consistent order, making results easier to browse.
• Narrator. Narrator has learned to read mathematical formulas — in supported Microsoft 365 applications, including Word and PowerPoint. Instead of listing symbols in sequence, it reads the formula the way it is meant to be understood: for example, when reaching a fraction, it names the numerator and denominator together so that the connection between them is visible. A separate navigation mode helps to break down the formula into parts. It is turned on with the Narrator key + Alt + N, after which the arrow keys can be used to move between parts of the expression — fractions, powers, roots — and the mode can be exited with the Esc key. Nothing additional needs to be installed: formula reading works immediately after installing the build. Narrator is turned on with Win + Ctrl + Enter, and the reading manner and navigation can be configured in its settings, in the mathematical formula reading section.
• Magnifier. Magnifier has learned to work with multiple monitors separately. Previously, the magnified area stretched across all screens at once, the boundaries between them were blurred, and one magnification level followed you everywhere. Now each monitor has its own magnification: the working screen can be at 300%, while the neighboring one with reference material can be at 150%. For this, monitors must work in "Extend these displays" mode in the "System > Display" section, not in duplicate mode. The magnification of a specific screen is set in any usual way: hover the pointer over it and press Win + + or Win + -, scroll the mouse wheel while holding Ctrl + Alt, set the percentage in the "Accessibility > Magnifier" section, or drag the Magnifier panel to the desired screen. Separate magnification for each monitor is enabled by default. The previous behavior, when magnification is common for all screens, is brought back with a single toggle — on the Magnifier panel or in the "Accessibility > Magnifier" section. View area pinning has also appeared. Usually the magnified area follows the pointer, and the desired fragment can easily be lost from view. The combination Ctrl + Win + K pins the view on the screen where the pointer is hovering: the screen remains fully functional, you can copy from it and click on it, but the magnified area does not move anywhere. The system reports the pinning directly on the screen. The same combination removes the pinning, and Win + Esc removes it from all screens at once. The combination can be changed to Ctrl + Alt + P in Magnifier settings.
• Sound settings. The volume sliders in the "System > Sound" section show sound activity on the side when something is playing. If the sound device supports hardware acceleration, it can now be enabled in the additional device settings. Exclusive mode is also configured there — previously this required going to the "Control Panel". Adaptive volume during conversations, which lowers other sounds during a call, is also configured directly in "Settings". The item for selecting the default communication device is now always shown: if the device is already selected, the item remains in place but becomes inactive instead of disappearing. Labels allowing the use of sound devices have been worded more clearly. When mono sound is enabled, a warning appears that some settings do not apply in this mode. The "All sound devices" page has been redesigned: the default device is selected directly on it, a filter by input and output devices has been added, and disabled and disconnected devices can be hidden or shown with toggles. On the properties pages of input and output devices, information about the connector has been added — for devices for which this matters.
• Fonts. Unicode has encoded two African scripts: Garay — in version 16.0, released in September 2024, and Beria Erfe — in version 17.0 from September 2025. Ebrima became the first Microsoft font that supports both scripts. The Adlam font has also been refined: the glyphs have been brought to the current Unicode standard and have become more uniform.
• Print management. The updated print management interface has been temporarily removed from insider builds — Microsoft is refining it based on feedback. The previous print management tools remain in place and work as before. The company plans to return the new version of the interface in one of the future builds.
• Notification center. Hints from notifications are saved in the notification center after they have been closed or disappeared on their own — finding them later has become easier.
• Input. Fixed an issue in recent builds where for some insiders the mouse cursor moved in the wrong direction on monitors with portrait orientation.
• Administrator protection. Fixed an issue in the previous build where for some insiders the User Account Control prompt did not appear when administrator protection was enabled.
• Setup assistant at first launch. Assisted Setup is a new optional step at the end of the initial computer setup. Windows offers to help install applications, personalize the device, and update so that the PC is immediately ready for use. The step can be skipped and you can go straight to the desktop.
• General stability. Fixed an issue in the previous build where for some insiders a blue screen with the code SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION appeared when launching or closing certain applications.

Known issues: Microsoft is working on fixing an issue where mouse cursor appearance settings are applied incorrectly. Work is also underway to fix an issue where desktop background settings are not saved after a restart.

To install update KB5124058, go to Settings > Windows Update and click "Check for updates". A computer restart is required to complete the installation. The update is intended for insiders on the Experimental channel, and to receive it you must be a member of the Windows Insider Program with the corresponding update channel.
