Microsoft has released cumulative update KB5121158 (Build 28120.2824) for Windows 11 version 26H1, intended for insiders on the Experimental channel. This update includes a small set of general improvements and fixes designed to improve system performance. Changes are rolling out to insiders gradually, so they will not appear for everyone at the same time.

You can install the update through Windows Update. To do this, go to Settings > Windows Update and click Check for updates. A computer restart will be required to complete the installation.

Find and Change Settings

Setting Where to find How to change
Personalization Settings > Personalization > Background Open Settings > Personalization > Background to select a wallpaper, set up a slideshow, or choose a solid color. DIB format images are now supported as desktop wallpapers. Slideshow works more reliably on newly created accounts and with multiple desktops. Thumbnail resolution and portrait orientation preview have been improved.
Windows Recovery Environment Settings > System > Recovery > Advanced startup WinRE can now connect to saved Wi-Fi profiles automatically, including certificate-based networks. No manual Wi-Fi setup is required for recovery scenarios that need internet access. Administrators can disable this feature through policy or configuration if needed.
Print Management Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners The updated print management interface has been temporarily removed from insider builds. The previous print management tools remain in place and work as before. No action is required; the new interface will return in a future build.
File Explorer File Explorer > Home The Home page remembers the expanded or collapsed state of sections. Expand or collapse sections as desired, and they will remain in that state the next time File Explorer is opened.
Magnifier Settings > Accessibility > Magnifier The Magnifier toolbar has an updated design with Windows 11 style icons and adjusted spacing. Viewing modes, zoom controls, keyboard shortcuts, and read-aloud work as before. No setting changes are required.
Emoji Emoji panel (Win + .) Emoji 17.0 symbols are now available, including a distorted face, a fight cloud, and a hairy creature. Open the emoji panel with Win + . (period) to use them. Some existing emojis have been redrawn for consistency.
