Microsoft has released cumulative update KB5121106 (Build 28020.2731) for Windows 11 version 26H1, intended for participants of the Windows Insider Program on the Beta channel. This release includes several notable changes, including the removal of the legacy WMIC utility, the withdrawal of the Drag Tray feature due to insider feedback, as well as bug fixes in Settings and Magnifier.

To install the update, go to Settings — Windows Update and click Check for updates. After downloading and installing, a restart of the computer will be required to complete the process.

Removal of WMIC N/A (removed from operating system) WMIC has been completely removed. Use PowerShell cmdlets (e.g., Get-WmiObject, Get-CimInstance) or the WMI Provider in other scripting environments as a replacement. No setting exists to re-enable WMIC.
Drag Tray N/A (removed from this build) The Drag Tray feature has been removed. No user action is available. Microsoft will announce a future replacement in an upcoming update.
Settings crash when interacting with System — Notifications Settings > System > Notifications This issue is fixed. Update to the latest build. No user configuration is required; the Settings app will no longer crash when opening Notifications under System.
Magnifier fails to launch Settings > Accessibility > Magnifier This issue is fixed. Update to the latest build. Magnifier can now be launched normally via Settings or the Win + Plus (+) keyboard shortcut.
