Microsoft has released cumulative update KB5121106 (Build 28020.2731) for Windows 11 version 26H1, intended for participants of the Windows Insider Program on the Beta channel. This release includes several notable changes, including the removal of the legacy WMIC utility, the withdrawal of the Drag Tray feature due to insider feedback, as well as bug fixes in Settings and Magnifier.
- Removal of WMIC. The Windows Management Instrumentation command-line utility has been completely removed from this release. This is part of the gradual deprecation of WMIC and its removal from the operating system.
- Drag Tray. Taking into account feedback from Windows Insider Program participants, Microsoft has removed the Drag Tray feature from this build. The company continues to work on improvements in this area and promises to announce a future replacement in one of the upcoming updates.
- Settings. Fixed an issue introduced in the previous build where the Settings app crashed when interacting with System — Notifications.
- Accessibility. Fixed an issue from the previous build where Magnifier failed to launch for some Windows Insider Program participants.
To install the update, go to Settings — Windows Update and click Check for updates. After downloading and installing, a restart of the computer will be required to complete the process.
