KB5083822

Microsoft has released cumulative update KB5083822 for Windows 11, version 25H2 for insiders on the Dev channel – Windows 11 Insider Preview Quality Update (26300.8155). The Dev channel is transitioning to receiving builds from the 26300 series, which means the ability to switch to the Beta channel after installing this build is closed.

Builds from the 26300 series will include many of the same features and improvements as builds from the 26220 series on the Beta channel, but over time they will introduce internal platform changes, which may cause the list of known issues to differ between Dev and Beta.

The following issues have been fixed: an issue has been resolved where some applications could not log in, incorrectly reporting an internal connection error despite having an internet connection; also fixed a crash affecting the ability to print for some Windows Insider participants in recent builds.

Microsoft reports that if a Windows Insider participant is currently on the Dev channel and still wants to switch to the Beta channel at the last moment, when the Build 26300.xxxx update appears in Windows Update, they can temporarily pause updates, switch the channel to Beta, and then resume receiving updates. Additionally, over time, builds from the 26300 series will introduce internal platform changes, which may cause the list of known issues to differ between Dev and Beta.

Installation via Windows Update: go to Settings > Windows Update and click Check for updates. A computer restart is required to complete the installation. To update Windows 11, version 25H2 to build 26300.8155, you can also download update KB5083822 and install it manually using the links above.

How the new features work:

Haptic feedback support: This feature uses HID-class drivers supporting haptic effect reports. During UI actions like resizing windows or hovering over a close button, the system sends commands through UserInteractionHapticFeedback API to the vibration controller. Intensity and patterns are adjustable via Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mouse > Haptic signals.

Xbox mode: Full-screen Xbox mode replaces standard File Explorer with a game-oriented shell. On first launch, it swaps explorer.exe context with GameBarPresenceWriter.exe and loads DirectInput + game overlays, reducing input latency and freeing GPU resources not needed for gaming.

Startup performance improvement: Improved by parallel autoload task execution with dependency tracking, using updated smss.exe and Task Scheduler. The system pre-caches executable paths and preloads common DLLs before user login. Unneeded apps can be disabled via Settings > Apps > Startup.
