Microsoft has released cumulative update KB5079482 for Windows 11, version 25H2 for Insiders on the Beta Channel – Windows 11 Insider Preview Quality Update (26220.8079). Users of this channel will now receive Windows 11, version 25H2 updates, which are available via the enablement package KB5066383 (build 26220.xxx).
For participants who want to receive new features first, a special toggle "Get the latest updates as soon as they are available" is provided in Settings > Windows Update. If this toggle is activated, the user will start receiving the latest updates as they become available. Over time, the number of features available through this toggle will increase. If the toggle is off, new features will be gradually rolled out to devices after they are fully developed.
In the future, changes in builds on the Beta Channel will be documented in two categories: new features, improvements, and fixes that are gradually rolled out to Insiders who have activated this toggle, and new features, improvements, and fixes available to all channel users.
- Improved reliability of explorer.exe when closing the input flyout. Fixed an issue where explorer.exe could become unstable when closing the input flyout, increasing the overall stability of the Windows shell.
- Improved reliability of fluid dictation setting in voice input. Fixed a crash that occurred when changing the fluid dictation parameter in voice input settings (Windows + H); dictation now works more predictably.
- Fixed incorrect display of two active Wi-Fi connections. The Network and Sharing Center no longer shows two active Wi-Fi connections after switching between networks — when connecting to a new network, only one active Wi-Fi connection is displayed.
Known issues in the current build: Some features under active development may be temporarily unavailable or not fully localized in all languages. Localization will be refined as development completes. Also, features and capabilities included in Beta Channel builds may change during testing, be removed, or never reach the final release. Microsoft uses this channel to test finished concepts and gather feedback. Some of these features may appear in future versions of Windows when fully completed. Many features in the Beta Channel are deployed using Control Feature Rollout technology: they first become available to a limited number of Insiders, then their distribution gradually expands as feedback and stability are analyzed.
Installation via Windows Update: go to Settings > Windows Update and click Check for updates. A system restart is required to complete installation.
The Windows Insider Program Beta Channel is intended for testing features and improvements that are closer to the final release and are based on Windows 11 version 25H2.
Please note that after installing the update, the toggle "Get the latest updates as soon as they are available" in Settings > Windows Update allows you to control the speed of receiving new features: if the toggle is activated, you receive the newest features as they are ready; if turned off, new features will be rolled out gradually after development is complete.
How the new features work:
Improved stability of explorer.exe when closing the input flyout: Fixed a bug where terminating the input flyout caused memory corruption in explorer.exe. Now WM_DESTROY messages and COM object detachment for text services are handled correctly, preventing the Windows shell from crashing.
Improved reliability of fluid dictation setting in voice input: Fixed a crash occurring when changing the fluid dictation parameter in voice input settings (Windows + H). The issue was linked to improper reloading of the speech recognition module; parameter updates no longer freeze the dictation thread.
Fixed incorrect display of two active Wi-Fi connections: The Network and Sharing Center no longer shows two active Wi-Fi connections after switching networks. The problem was that the old network profile did not deactivate properly; now when connecting to a new SSID, the old interface correctly transitions to DISCONNECTED state.
